Who We Are
Montcalm County Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to building safe, and affordable housing for economically
disadvantaged families in Montcalm County.
Since 1991 we have partnered with a broad coalition of individuals, churches and businesses to build 19 homes and complete countless "critical repair" projects in Montcalm County.
The Need in Our Community
For many hard-working families in Montcalm County, the dream of home ownership seems unattainable. Roughly 18% of people in our county live below the poverty level. This is more than 13%
higher than the state average. Montcalm County Habitat for Humanity empowers families by making the dream of home ownership a reality. This is how we serve God, build hope and break the
cycle of poverty in our community.
Who We Serve
Our Partner Families are first-time home buyers, seniors, handicapped residents and veterans, who earn between 30-60% of the HUD area median income (AMI) and who are currently living in
unsafe, dilapidated, or unaffordable housing. Homeowners are selected based on their need for housing, their ability to pay a no interest mortgage, and their willingness to partner with Habitat
to work on their own home and those of others. We seek to empower families by providing economic opportunity, home owner education, log-term partnership, hands-on learning and the dignity of a
hand-up, not a hand-out.
Montcalm County Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)3 non-profit
organization. Your donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
